TNN TETRA Network North
Technology and range of services
The TETRA Network North (TNN) is a civilian, public digital radio security network in northern Germany. Its coverage extends from Bremen via Bremerhaven, Wilhelmshaven, Cloppenburg and Diepholz to the Hanover region.
The communications technology standard on which the TNN is based is TETRA: a technology for narrowband transmission of voice and data. This technology makes the TNN virtually unlimited in terms of expansion and scalable in a secure manner.
The TETRA Netz Nord has the following performance advantages in comparison to public mobile networks:
- High availability and network capacity - even in critical situations and special circumstances
- Fast call setup and clear voice quality
- Resistance to interference and failure
- Protection against eavesdropping and manipulation
- Independence from other communication systems
- Prioritisation of emergency calls
Application examples
With its wide range of voice and data functions, TETRA offers new alternatives for managing operations and employees. For example, TETRA data services are suitable for remote control and remote switching of machines and light signal systems. There is also a variety of possibilities in the field of telemetry applications, for example for operators of critical infrastructure and industry.
Network operation and use
As one of the TNN network operators, ats is responsible for the Hanover region. All radio cells and digital radio devices approved for use in them are administered at our network control center. This allows us to keep a constant eye on radio cell utilisation, respond quickly to faults and plan expansions.
It is often not economical for individual users to set up and operate their own TETRA infrastructure. The public TETRA Network North offers an efficient alternative for those who still want to benefit from the performance advantages of TETRA. Using the TNN is very simple:
The user signs a contract with ATS Elektronik GmbH and the desired end devices are activated - then they can use all the performance advantages of the TNN.
